Podiatry FAQs: Your Questions Answered

Please reach out to us at admin@canterburypodiatry.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.

You can book an appointment directly with us without a referral from your GP.

If you've been referred by your GP, consultant or another healthcare professional, you're welcome to bring any relevant letters or reports with you.

In the past, we have found it useful for private medical insurance clients to check with their insurer whether a referral is required to be covered under their policy.

Please bring:

  • Any relevant medical information or referral letters
  • A list of your current medications (if applicable)
  • Any orthotics or insoles you currently wear
  • Footwear you wear regularly (particularly for musculoskeletal or gait assessments)

If you're attending for foot or ankle pain, wearing loose-fitting clothing that allows us to assess your lower legs can also be helpful.

Appointment times vary depending on the treatment you require.

Most routine appointments last 30 minutes, while specialist assessments and treatments such as MSK assessments or nail surgery may take 45–60 minutes.

The duration of each appointment is shown on our Treatments & Pricing page.

Our team treats a wide range of foot and lower limb conditions, including:

  • Ingrown toenails
  • Heel pain and plantar fasciitis
  • Corns and calluses
  • Verrucae
  • Fungal nail infections
  • Diabetic foot care
  • Children's foot conditions
  • Foot and ankle pain
  • Biomechanical problems
  • High-risk and vulnerable feet

If you're unsure whether we can help, please get in touch and we'll be happy to advise.

Many patients are surprised by how comfortable podiatry treatment actually is.

Some procedures may cause mild discomfort depending on the condition being treated, but your podiatrist will explain everything beforehand and ensure you remain as comfortable as possible throughout your appointment.
